Heated Bed Upgrades for the Ender 3 S1 and S1 Pro

If your Ender 3 S1 or S1 Pro 3D printer came with a warped heated bed, you're not alone.

We hear from dozens of frustrated owners every week who can't level their beds. Their build plates are nowhere near flat, bowed in the middle or curved at the edges like a potato chip. Curious to know if our products will work for them, the short answer is yes, we have several great options available. However, there's a few important points of note.

Dimensional Differences

Compared to earlier 3D printers in the Ender 3 series, the S1 beds are almost identical. They have the same size, shape and thickness, but there is one notable difference. The mounting holes are spaced an additional +5mm apart on the X axis, aimed to break backwards compatibility.

The good news is, since this is such a minor adjustment, existing heated bed upgrades still work for the most part. Despite having 170x170mm hole spacing, they can be mounted on the 175x170mm carriage plate. It's not necessarily ideal, the bed leveling screws pull inwards and sit at a slight angle, but it does work as expected.

To improve upon this however, we have designed the Modular 3-Point Y Carriage for Ender 3 S1 / Pro. Using slots instead of holes, it provides room for adjustment that expands compatibility. Functioning as an adapter plate of sorts, this supports both the stock S1 bed as well as our Ender 3 heated bed upgrades.

Paired with a standard 3-Point Heated Bed or Cast Aluminum Heated Bed upgrade, this will completely replace the warped build plate that comes with S1 3D printers.

Grounding Wire

Starting with the S1 series, Creality has now added a yellow and green grounding wire. This is a safety precaution to prevent against shock in the event a live wire touches the frame.

When installing our heated beds however, you'll find that the ground wire is not present. This occasionally raises questions from concerned owners, but rest assured, this is by design.

The stock Creality bed uses a 24V PCB (printed circuit board) heater with etched traces on the surface. In contrast, our silicone heaters are standalone components, mounted to the aluminum build plate using a 3M adhesive backing and naturally insulated by a thick layer of silicone.
