Required Tools

Hex Wrenches
The installation will require the 2.0 and 3.0mm hex wrenches, found in the Ender 3 S1 / S1 Pro toolset.

Open Wrench
The installation will require the 8mm to 10mm open wrench, found in the Ender 3 S1 / S1 Pro toolset.
1. Remove Heated Bed
Loosen and remove the bed leveling thumbwheels, then lift the heated bed and set it aside.
The heated bed will later be re-installed on the new Modular 3-Point Y Carriage Plate using the original mounting hardware.

2. Remove Belt Tensioner
Detach the GT2 belt ends from the stock carriage, sliding them out of the notches on the front and back.
Loosen the (2x) M3 screws on each side of the belt tensioner, then remove the belt tensioner from the Y axis extrusion.

3. Remove Carriage Plate
Roll the carriage plate forward and off the front of the Y axis.

4. Remove Mounting Hardware
Use the 3mm hex wrench to loosen the screws, and the 8mm open wrench to brace the nuts and prevent free spinning.
Remove the v-wheels and mounting hardware from the original carriage plate, setting them aside in a safe place. Hardware will be transferred to the new carriage plate in the next step.

5. Install Mounting Hardware
Reverse the previous step, transferring the v-wheels and mounting hardware to the new Modular 3-Point Y Carriage Plate.

6. Install Carriage Plate
Align the v-wheels with the extrusion channels, then roll the Modular 3-Point Y Carriage Plate on to the Y axis.
Verify that the orientation is correct. The modular mounting points should be located on the front, and the straight edge on the right hand side nearest the LCD screen.
If the plate is installed upside down or rotated 180°, it will collide with the stepper motor assembly.

7. Install Belt Tensioner
Using the 2mm hex wrench, re-mount the belt tensioner on the front of the Y axis extrusion.
Loop the belt back through the belt tensioner, then attach both ends to the Modular 3-Point Y Carriage Plate. Use the knob to tension the belt as needed.

8. Adjust Eccentric Nuts
There are (2) eccentric nuts, both located on the right side of the carriage plate. Using the 10mm open wrench, turn these to loosen or tighten as needed.
For best results, the v-wheels should be tight enough to eliminate play, but loose enough to roll freely and without binding.
ⓘ Eccentric nuts don't use righty-tighty, lefty-loosey. They can be turned either direction to adjust the tension.

9. Install Heated Bed
Re-install the heated bed with the stock springs and bed leveling thumbwheels.

10. Heated Bed Configurations
Creality has changed the hole spacing on the Ender 3 S1 and S1 Pro, from the standard 170x170mm to 175x170mm. This minor difference limits compatibility with aftermarket heated beds.
Using slots instead of holes, the Modular 3-Point Y Carriage has room for adjustment and supports both mounting patterns, opening up a wide range of options to upgrade.

11. Modular Addons (optional)
