Traditional extruder gears are made from brass, a soft metal that wears out over time. As the teeth begin to dull, it's no longer able to properly grip the filament, resulting in missed steps and inconsistent extrusion.
Stainless steel by comparison is far more durable. Made from an iron alloy, the teeth remain sharp through continuous use for extended periods of time. Features an increased 40 tooth count (vs 36T) for additional grip that will prevent slippage.
It's recommended to calibrate the extruder steps (e-steps) after replacing the drive gear to ensure an accurate feed rate.Gear Specifications
